Letter, 1 September 1778, from William Douglas, Louisa County, Va., to John Martin, Goochland County, Va., expressing condolences on the death of Martin's wife and describing his ejectment from his vestry for "having spoken disrespectfully of [my] country." Douglas provides details of his ministerial duties, social life in Louisa and Goochland counties, and aging.
